Seeds
of greatness were being sowed here with The Smiths' debut album. Totlly
original, at times emotionally distrubing, always powerful. |

Some
good stuff here, including the classi 'How Soon is Now?' This song alone
defines (to me) the dark side of Altertnative music: cold, depressing, even claustrophobic. I always think of driving home from the Kent, Ohio bars late at night, where I saw many great local bands. Driving by myself, listening to this song on the radio. Ah, what great memories! |

Probably
the most fully realized Smiths album. Catchy tunes, emotionally packed yet
not overbearing in any way. |

Starting
to get a little too big for their britches. Their fourth release and its
a double album? I would have preferred them weeding out the lesser tunes and making one killer of a single album. Now THAT would have been great! |

Their
last album. A few great tunes, a couple good ones, and some that should
have been left off. Not a bad swan song, just not a great one, either. |

A
unique case of record company greed that actually paid off for the fans.
Released after their demise, Sire Records released this live album from the Louder Than Bombs tour. For those like me who never got to see The Smiths live, this is very nice compensation. |
