Never
really got into 'The Boss.' I tried, I really did. At one time I had eveything
he ever recorded, but I found that I only listened to his stuff a few times and then it collected dust so I got rid of them. Yes, I've seen him perform, both with the E-Street band and on his solo acoustic tour in 1995. And yes, the man is a huge talent - I don't deny any of this. I just don't get it. But, you have to have some Bruce in your collection, and this is the route I chose. |

As
you know, I am not a Springsteen fan. While I respect the man, I
just couldn't get into the music like his diehard fans could. At times I can see he's a poet, other times he seems like the poster boy for arena rock, something I railed against since the 80's (I know . . . looking at The Leibrary doesn't give that impression, but I was first introduced to Bruce in 1978, right at the height of New Wave and at the tail end of punk). But for now he's back where he belongs, with the E Street Band and he's angry; angry at politicians, mostly, so I can get on board with that. And according to everyone, this is Bruce's rockingest album in quite some time. |
