You definitely have to have the taste for Talking Heads, and even then you have to be in the mood for them.
Not that that's bad, it's just indicative of their eclectic sound. This, their second album, yielded their first hit,
'Take Me to the River.'

What an incredible album! I can just see a huge throng of people who bought this album for the single ('Life
During Wartime'), standing around and scratching their heads in bewilderment when they first heard this
album. Sycophants. Wouldn't know anything good if it jumped up and bit them on the bum. It still amazes me
that this record set Talking Heads on the road to greatness. Albums this good and this weird aren't
supposed to sell. But this one did.

Y'know, it's kinda befitting that the Talking Heads commercial breakthrough was a song about people
spontaneously combusting. Quirky band, quirky song. Goes to show that you never know what the masses
will go for.

In 1984, a noted Hollywood director made an outstanding rock concert film. What a joy he chose the
Talking Heads. When Sire released the soundtrack, they decided against a double album and stuck with
the highlights for a single album release. Seventeen years later, the re-issued CD re-master contains the
entire concert. Whatever we did to deserve this, I'm sure glad we did it! * indicates CD tracks

The poppiest album Talking Heads ever made, it was probably their most commercial, too. I love this
record! Cool songs, lots of airplay (radio and MTV), and the world was a much better place because of it.

Supposedly the soundtrack to the David Byrne film of the same name, this album had no direction
whatsoever. From what I hear, the same can be said for the film, too. A couple good songs, but overall
pretty lacklustre

A very cool double CD set spanning the career of one of the most influential, intelligent, and artistic bands of
the 80s. Also has a couple 'new' tunes, which is always nice.
