MAN,
what a debut! Recorded live in the studio, (only overdubs were for some
of Eddie's leads - you can hear the rhythm guitar track underneath), this was the one-two punch that rock 'n' roll needed. In the waning days of disco, and the imminent demise of the reign of the dinosaurs (Queen, Zeppelin, The Who), rock music needed a kick in the pants. This is it. |

Van
Halen became the powerhouse they were destined to be with this one.
Mature (for VH), confident, and on top of their game in every sense. And all with David Lee Roth, too. Let's see them do that with Sammy! |

I
like this record! No (obvious) single, it's more of an album-oriented record.
Still embarrassingly short, this one ranks of there with my favourites. |

This
one's more of a covers album than anything else. Four of the tunes are covers
while the originals seem to be half-done. I like this record, but if a little more effort was put into it, it might have been a wonderful record. |

Aah,
the end of an era. David Lee
Roth's last VH album.Just as well, if the direction they were
going in was cheesy synthesizer land. That suits Sammy Hagar better anyway, don't ya think? |

Sammy
Halen! Yeah, so it went to number one on the charts, something they never
did with Diamond Dave. So what? At least with Dave they were NEVER sterile, NEVER predictable. With 5150, Van Halen became just another hair band of the 80s. |
