I LOVE this movie!!!! Hilarious, irreverent, highly original - this movie is the best teenage movie EVER! Just released on DVD, it is sadly out of print on vinyl or CD. (I found this in a used CD store in 2003 - this is what makes collecting so much fun!) If you can find this soundtrack, do what you must, but own it at all costs! You won't be disappointed.

This soundtrack is by far one of the best, most exciting soundtracks ever recorded! Seeing these musical giants in their earlesit incarnations and live, too! If you love New Wave and you ever get a chance to see this flick, do it! You won't regret it. It's worth it to see XTC live, if nothing else! Plus, the juxtaposition of English and American bands was a brilliant thing to do. Simultaneously you hear the similarities and differences between the two musical scenes. Great movie, great soundtrack!

An English teen movie that I've never seen but am desperately trying to find! All I know is, the soundtrack rocks! And the music is truly representative of the music scene in Britain in the early 80's (save for their heavy metal scene).

Anything with Cheap Trick in has got to be good! And there's something about this movie that I love - probably because it's one of the first 80's teen movies, so it's not cliche. Although many horrible 80's teen movies copied this one's format and became cliches, so this one kinda set the standard. Whether that's good or bad is for you to decide. In addition to CT, the soundtrack has the classic NRBQ track 'Me and the Boys.' Bonus!

If you can make it through the first ten minutes of this movie and it's "Val-speak" without screaming, then you'll discover that this is a VERY good, intelligent movie about being yourself and following your heart. I know, sounds a bit much, but this has become a cult classic. Plus it's pretty definitive of the 80's. A modern- day American Graffiti, perhaps? You be the judge.

I LOVE this movie!!!! Loosely based on the life of Carole King, the world of pop / rock music is chronicled from its infancy in the 1950s, its adolescence in the late 60s, and its young adulthood in the early 70s. A wonderfully magical movie.

Y'know, this movie is so cliched, so pedestrian . . . yet it's so fantastic! It has a certain charm that helps you overlook it's thematic repetitiveness. The music's pretty cool, even though alot of it is tongue in cheek. And if you're sick of the theme song, check out 'Dance with Me Tonight' - it rocks!

Okay, the 'ultimate' drug movie . . . that's not praise for addiction; it's praise for pretty accurately portraying the drug scene. I defy anyone to claim otherwise - especially after the baby scene, there's no way this film glamourises drugs. As for the soundtrack - I think this single-handedly catapulted Iggy Pop back into the public eye.

I love Janeane Garafolo! She is utterly hilarious, very intelligent and extremely cute! And I always enjoy an intelligent romantic comedy. Plus it has Uma Thurman, so what more do ya need? Anyway, I really got the soundtrack because of the previously unavailable Squeeze and Ben Folds Five tunes. If you're a nut like me, it was money well spent.

I HATED this movie!!!! Disjointed, unrealistic, and totally devoid of any value at all!! Plus, I really don't want to see Ewan MacGregor in the altogether. I could have very easily lived the rest of my days without seeing that, thank you very much. But the music is tops! The one thing they did capture was the magical quality that Glam had. If you're into Bowie, Roxy Music, Lou Reed, T. Rex, et al, check out this soundtrack.

I loved this movie! Stupid, corny, aimed for the teen market -- but at least they were aiming a 'real' band at the teens and making fun of boy bands in the process. That, and I'm madly in love with Rachel Leigh Cook (Josie)!

Is it any wonder that Jack Black's delightful comedy about starting a rock band would spawn a great soundtrack? I didn't think so! Great songs that not only are instantly recognisable from the annals of rock, but also are reminders of scenes from the film. It's rare when a soundtrack accomplishes that, believe me, and this one pulls it off with ease.
