Ringo's first foray into solo work was quite an adventurous one. Coming off the heels of the biggest band of
all time breaking up, Ringo chose his first solo album to be a cover set of traditional, easy listening songs
deidcated to his mum and stepdad. 30+ years on this has an endearing charm to it - much like Ringo
himself.

Continuing to throw the dice, Ringo gambled on his second album aswell. And again, this album has a
strange appealing quality to it. When it was released everyone pretty much wrote Ringo off as being the
talentless Beatle, which was quite unfair. Only Ringo could have pulled off an album of country music this
charming and authentic. Elvis Costello tried it in 1981, but he didn't quite reach Ringo's level.

'With a little help from my friends' indeed. This was as close to a Beatles reunion that we would get (until the
Anthology CDs anyway). John, Paul, and George helped Ringo out on various tunes, along with a host of
othr celebrity friends. This was a good record; Ringo doesn't have the greatest voice, but he manages to
put together a nice collection of songs that wielded three hits.

Ringo tried to catch lightning in a bottle again with this follow-up to his mega-successful Ringo album. Again
rallying his musician friends around him, Ringo just didn't have it this time. His escalating drinking may have
something to do with it. Still, he did manage to pull off a hit of sorts with the ironically versed 'No No Song.'

A more apt title would have been 'Ringo's Drunken Reverie.' This could very well be the worst album ever
made by a major star (not counting Keith Moon's record, of course), and that pains me to say because I
love Ringo - just not this record.

Ringo continued to hold the title of Worst Albums Ever Made. But his charm alone managed to keep him in

Poor Ringo. Still drinking at the time of this recording, he didn't even have the 'luxury' of having his drinking

On the heels of Joe Walsh's work on John Entwistle's Too Late the Hero (1981), Ringo recruited the
legendary guitarist to help him with his first album on a new label (RCA Records). Unfortunately, the record
never got the support from the record company and was never relased in the US or England - two of the
world's largest markets for music. Thanks to technology, the CD was released in 1994 by The Right Stuff
label. Wish I could say it was worth the wait, but . . . again, Ringo's charm is the only thing that saved the day
with this record.

Ringo was the first ex-Beatle to tour in the late 80s. This is a chronicle of the traveling road show he would
put together throughout the 90s. On subsequent tours he would have different artists performing with him, but
on this first tour he has Levon Helm (The Band), Joe Walsh, and Billy Preston. And did I say how much
fun this was to see, let alone hear over and over again? Well . . . it was.

When I saw that Ringo was covering a Beatles' tune for this record, my heart sank. The last album was so
good, I had hoped that he'd continue the trend. Years after its release, I finally got a copy, though reluctantly.
Ringo, if you ever visit this site and read this review, please accept my heartfelt apologies for doubting you.
What a great cover of a Beatles classic! John would be so proud! And Ringo's string of good records

Another fantastic CD from Ringo! A wonderful tribute to Liverpool and his own personal past ('Liverpool8')
and a batch of very good pop songs. Now I'd like to see Ringo take a chance and do something bold,
something fresh and new. What that is, I don't know, but he's been cranking out consistently good pop
records since 1992. It's time for a change, or this will get stale before long.
